NEERS 2026 Spring MeetingApril 23-25 at the SUNY PlattsburghWe are excited to welcome the NEERS community to the State University of New York at Plattsburgh for our spring 2026 meeting. Plattsburgh is situated on the Saranac River on the shores of Lake Champlain. Once part of the Atlantic Ocean, Lake Champlain was left high, but not dry, by glacial retreat over 10,000 years ago and is now considered an inland sea. Plattsburgh also serves as a gateway to the six-million-acre Adirondack Park, the largest state-protected area in the contiguous United States. Our other claims to fame include a vibrant downtown art community, maritime and military history, and a regional delicacy perplexingly named the “Michigan.” We will highlight the rich history, science, indigenous and local culture, and management of the Lake Champlain Basin in a special session and field trip. We hope that this meeting will provide opportunities for NEERS to welcome attendees working on similar projects and addressing similar challenges in coastal marine and freshwater systems |
