About the Webinar

There is the ability in the private sector to conduct meaningful science and fulfilling work with the opportunity for professional and personal growth. However, there is often limited experience with the private sector during a graduate education and thus the private sector can seem like a mystery when deciding what to do next. This webinar will cover some of the similarities and differences between working in the private sector and academia and have time for discussion at the end.

 About the Presenter

Dr. Aaron Bever is a managing scientist at Anchor QEA, LLC and has more than 15 years of experience combining field observations and state of the art three-dimensional (3-D) hydrodynamic, water quality, sediment transport, and wave models to better understand coastal and estuarine systems. He has a BS from the University of Washington and MS and PhD from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, William and Mary. Most of his recent work has focused on numerical salinity and turbidity modeling and sediment deposition and dispersal, and also on methods to better estimate hypoxia and real-time environmental forecasting. His work in multiple estuarine systems combining long-term field-collected data sets with numerical model results has demonstrated that numerical models can give valuable insight for supporting management decisions and for improving observational sampling strategies and strategic instrument deployments.
